A lot of prominent people had been honestly amazed by the great fortresses in Vladivostok. Newspaper "Times" wrote in 1919: "The fortress of Vladivostok is the best one of all the sea-shore fortresses in the world, its a miracle of military engineering". It is known that the guns of Vladivostok fortress which is now more than one hundred years old have never been used in combat. But by the words of the great military theoretic Nickolay Kladko "the fortress which is not used in the combat because of the fact that the enemy thinks it can defeat him, will surely get its main aim." This replica as well as possible characterize the situation with the sea-shore fortress of Zolotoy Rog bay.
You will visit the museum of Vladivostok Fortress which is situated in the casemates of Bezymyannaya battery. This museum is in the center of the city. You will also see sea-shore batteries and outposts №1 (Port-Arturskoe); pass through the underground way and see giant fortress's buildings which make Vladivostok an inaccessible fortress; get acquainted with the fort № 7 - the last line of defense in Vladivostok fortress.
Also you can see the unique fortresses and military buildings of the XIX - XX centuries on Russki (Russian) Island, get acquainted with the history of building, engineering structure; visit the fort of Pospelova (of the great prince Dmitry Donskoy), three sea-shore and two ground batteries; pass through the underground ways to the south line of defense. On "Russian" island there is Voroshilovskaya battery - the only and unique fortification in the world. It lies in the closed position and includes two batteries of three-barrel guns (these guns had been taken from Poltava battleship). The whole construction lies at 25 meters depth. Fifty hundred kilograms shells could terminate any ship in thirty five kilometer range. The unique fresco was found in one of the casemates of Voroshilovskaya battery.
